Hey there!

My name is Vicky Vien (she/her) I am a production sound mixer based in the Front Range in Colorado.

I am a first generation Chinese/Vietnamese American from Louisville, CO. Much of my youth was spent at my family’s restaurant in Downtown Louisville where my sister, cousins, and I would get up to all sorts of shenanigans. Having grown up alongside many of my extended family, I am very big on building new relationships with others and creating community with those around me.

I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a BFA in Film and Television. During this four-year program my cohort and I worked on a number of films where I soon grew quite fond of working in the sound department. With each film I added under my belt, I became tethered to this idea that sound is one of the most intimate elements in a film. I find that I can connect so much more to someone and understand their processes better since I am typically  one of the only people who are really hearing a person through a microphone. Sound also happens to come with the added perk of getting stand up routines or the occasional concert from a mic’d up person across the room.

In an industry that puts a lot of emphasis on networking, I prioritize fostering relationships with people I have met and connecting on subjects that we resonate with beyond our technical skills. With that, I am very passionate about working alongside fellow BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ filmmakers who want further representation on screen as well as behind the scenes.
